The Vajra Karur Trip

Hi folks,

this is sunil back after a long time, describing now about the Vajrakarur Theru (The Ratha Yatra), pulling the deity in a chariot in the streets of the village to say thanks to God for maintaining the faith in the hearts of the devotees.

I and Nagaraju bava went to Vajrakarur, Shantaram told he will be coming later as he needs to attend to some compulsory family committments in Aamidyala, Bhuvana's place.

We reached at around 5am, we knocked the door and ammamma opened the door.

She was very happy seeing us, as she was expecting that someone turns up one or the other day, but being it the main day when all the villagers congregate with all their family members, she was very very happy..

Then as usual we, that is me and bava cleaned the house, emptied all the vessels and filled them with water, and left the cooking part to her.

We were not expecting what she cooked for us. For us she prepared Kajjikaya, Vadiyalu, that ravva laddu (but not too many to bring back home - poor souls who did not turn up to theru for whatever the reason may be).

She prepared Oliga, we ate hot hot Oliga in the kitchen sitting before her. It was a very good experience. That was breakfast complete :-)

Then I and bava prepared chutney using the mortar and pestle, It tastes so good that you want to go back to those days. These machinery has made more time available which too is wasted on other activities which do not make you work physically. The subsequent generations will not have the vigor and vitality like those men and women of her age.

Coming back to our food crazy odyssey, the following were there on the platter by afternoon, try to guess before you see them ;-)

4. Vankaya & Alu koora

5. Bellam kattu Charu

6. Miriyala Charu - because she thought Anil would be coming to theru (he wont like that bellam kattu charu)

7.Vadiyalu
8. Tomato chutney - రోలు లో నూరింది
9. ఉట్టి  మీద పెరుగు 
10. Olige with fresh ghee from buffalo's milk.

Then I and bava slept, we were waiting for Shantaram to turn up.

He came in the afternoon at around 1-2 pm, I am not sure.
